Telemetry you can explain in one elevator ride

By Eun Ahn

Telemetry debates often balloon because every team wants their favorite graph. Anchor the conversation on questions external reviewers actually ask: can you show who approved a change, when it landed, and how you knew it succeeded? If a signal cannot answer one of those, it is a candidate for deferral.

Minimize duplication across tools. When two systems capture the same event, decide which one is authoritative and document the handoff. This keeps incident records short and reduces contradictory timestamps during stressful investigations.

Practice explaining your bundle aloud in under forty seconds. If you stumble, the bundle is still too complex. Our Security Quality Standards Practicum devotes a full lab to tightening these narratives without adding new collectors.
